The Eric Bascom Trio recording is rich with melody, swing and soul, and it features a lovely selection of jazz and popular standards. He plays such challenging material as “All Blues,” “A Child Is Born,” and “Joy Spring” with aplomb; Eric, Genevieve Rose, and Ed Brainerd are among the many Western Massachusetts jazz artists who deserve a wider hearing, said Tom Reney, jazz journalist with NEPM.

The Eric Bascom Trio is smooth but swings. — Charles F. Bennett, staff writer, The Wilbraham-Hampden Times

Eric and his Trio played during the cocktail hour and dinner hour. They provided a joyous lively background as people gathered and talked and as they ate dinner. Eric’s trio is ever changing, but they are all professional musicians who really like to play together and are a joy to listen to. They also do ceremony music as well as receptions. — Marty S

We had the Eric Bascom Quartet with a vocalist, Ethel Lee, for a wedding of 75. We wanted something elegant — no chicken dances or YMCA — and Eric and his team delivered more than 100 percent. They are a class act. People were able to have conversations in the room, but still enjoy top-notch jazz and popular music. They did pieces from the American songbook, Sinatra, and Cole Porter — to the Temptations and James Taylor — all in style and with the versatile voice of Ethel Lee, who is just SUPER! We felt really privileged to have them play at our affair. — Josephine

Eric’s music is always soothing and energizing at the same time. A spectacular mix of jazz, American Songbook classics and original compositions — his music is engaging whether he is solo or with an ensemble. — Karen
