This public performance event is free, "rain or shine", and includes food truck vendors, beverage centers, and music. I will be presenting my lecture with a live music performance from my series, "Eric Bascom Presents in Celebration of Our Nation's 250th Anniversary". This will be my program on "The Music of James Taylor", one of our nation's most loved singer/songwriters, and a resident of Massachusetts. The lecture will include his early days growing up in Chapel Hill, NC, to his start in New York City and beyond as one of America's music icons.

The Eric Bascom-Ed Brainerd Duo at Lenox Spring Art Walk in a Public Performance, September 12, 2026 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. I love playing the Lenox Fall Art Walk. The Autumn foliage is just beginning and colors the Town of Lenox in very special way. I'll be there playing guitar and singing , along with my good friend, Ed Brainerd, on trumpet and flugelhorn. Well performing a variety of jazz, blues, original compositions, and popular music, along with a few old and new standards from the Great American Song Book and Beyond. The Lenox Art Walk presents this juried artisan showcase along with the already exceptional shops, cafes and restaurants that Downtown Lenox offers. Public Performance and Lecture: "American Blues" by Eric Bascom. This presentation will offer a historical context of this iconic and original American musical art form from its roots beginning in the pre-turn of the 20th century to our modern times. Eric will discuss the evolution of the blues in some of its many forms, and will demonstrate through performance some of the key evolutionary periods of this musical art form that shaped American popular music from Tin Pan Alley and Broadway, to jazz, rhythm & blues, rock'n' roll, Motown and beyond.

The Eric Bascom Trio in performance for The New England Design Awards in Architecture. Private Event. We'll be playing a variety of jazz classics, originals, blues, along with a selection of standards from the Great American Song Book. This will be great fun!
