Public Performance and Lecture: "American Blues" by Eric Bascom. This presentation will offer a historical context of this iconic and original American musical art form from its roots beginning in the pre-turn of the 20th century to our modern times. Eric will discuss the evolution of the blues in some of its many forms, and will demonstrate through performance some of the key evolutionary periods of this musical art form that shaped American popular music from Tin Pan Alley and Broadway, to jazz, rhythm & blues, rock'n' roll, Motown and beyond.
